The number of men on the Channel Islands looking for cosmetic treatment is increasing, according to channelonline.tv.

Women are stereotypically more interested in their appearance than males, spending a small fortune on the latest products which promise youthful skin.

As time goes by, plastic surgery and Botox treatments are becoming standard procedures on men in the British Isles.

A number of reports have suggested than men are forking out on Botox treatments to overcome wrinkles to look younger in the workplace.

Doctor John Curran, who works at a cosmetic clinic in Guernsey, has seen a notable rise in the number of men undergoing cosmetic procedures.

“I think there is still a heavy weight of females coming in but in absolute terms there has been an increase in recent years of more and more men coming, and more and more people are coming in for cosmetic treatment. I think the big treatment is Botox and that’s because of the aggressive looking fraune and people don’t want to look stressed but they also come for liposuction,” commented Mr Curran.

According to The Sun newspaper, the UK’s first ever cosmetic surgery beauty pageant will take place in April.

The competition is open only to women who have gone ‘under the knife’, having had at least one cosmetic procedure.

Judges of the competition will look at before and after pictures of the entrants and rate them on their overall transformation and the quality of the surgery.

The winner will receive a trip abroad, including flights, accommodation in a five-star hotel and the opportunity to have more cosmetic surgery and Botox, worth a total of £3,000.

The pageant has been organised by Linda Briggs, who runs a cosmetic surgery advice and booking service. She told The Sun: “Thousands of women have cosmetic surgery every year.

“It’s time to recognise that and celebrate the difference it can make to a woman’s life. Natural beauty is great, but so is artificial beauty and it’s a big part of today’s society.

“This competition is a first for the UK, but in my opinion it’s long overdue.”
